About the Author
Mike Michaelson is a veteran travel writer who also frequently writes about dining and entertainment. He is the author or co-author of more than 30 books, mostly travel and dining guides, a regular travel columnist for multiple newspapers, and his work appears frequently in magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, Home & Away, Travel America, and Midwest Living.

Michaelson served as scriptwriter for the Emmy-nominated TV show Weekends Away, a program he created based on his book series of the same name. The show ran on NBC WMAQ-TV and WGN Superstation. Michaelson also was writer and co-host for the cable television show, The Gourmet Traveler.

About the Artist
MK Czerwiec (pronounced sir-wick) is an artist and nurse who was born and raised in Chicago. Her "architectural caricature" style of art emerged from her love of cartoons, line art, and architecture. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Northwestern University. Czerwiec says her art is intended "to reflect and aspire, rooted in the paradox that, as humans, we are infinite spirits housed in finite bodies, leaving us grounded yet reaching."
