About the Artist
Hannelore Kennedy was born in Hamburg, Germany, and in 1951, she came
to Canada. In 1964, she and her husband, Harry, moved from Montreal to
Prince Edward Island, where she began to paint seriously. Painting in
acrylic, oil, and watercolour, she concentrated on Prince Edward Island
scenes. Hannelore's paintings are in private collections in Canada, the
United States, and Europe. One of her paintings hangs in Stornoway,
which is one of the seven official residences of Canada and is located
in Ottawa.
About Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island was once called "the fairest land 'tis possible to
see," and the Island continues to live up to this high and gentle
praise. Patchwork fields of bright reds and greens dot the landscape
against a backdrop of brilliant blue, and sandy shores and ruddy
sandstone cliffs define the Island's borders.
Canada's smallest province is perhaps best known for its red soil, its potatoes, its lobster, and Anne of Green Gables - a fictional red-haired orphan whose story has charmed generations of readers around the world.
